How to decongest traffic flow in the cities during the peak hours?

  1. Have mobile Pilots/Governors (i.e. traffic cops on M.cycle/jeep) with video cameras to petrol the city's most busy roads during morning & evening peak hours.
  2. Authorize them to issue on-the-spot-challan to any vehicle flouting traffic rules (like not plying in the lane, over-speeding, wrong overtaking, parking/stopping in front of the bus-stops, illegal vendor squatting on the bus-stops / road sides, jumping traffic-lights, buses not stopping at the bus stops, smoke emitting vehicles, faulty number plates, illegal usage of red/blue "beacon" lights on the vehicles, tinted glasses etc.).
  3. These challans' details must get entered into a web-based system by the day-end for all to see so that offenders become conscious of their follies, which perhaps will deter them from repeating traffic violation in future.
  4. Make the mobile pilots record at least 1 key observation of the day with their (suggested) solutions in a web-based system at the day-end for all to see.
  5. Also, local MP/MLA/Councillor must be made to accompany (at least once in 15 days) the pilots/governors to have first hand experience and to also ensure that suggested solutions (based on the daily observations) are duly decided & implemented in a time bound manner.
  6. The public must also be made to record their observations & satisfaction level with the implemented solutions in the web-based system to keep tab on the working of the traffic police & the elected members (MP/MLA/Councillor)
