Dear
Readers,
Greetings for the new year 2009!
We welcome you to the first issue of our electronic newsletter,
'IRRO News' from 'Innovative Radical Reforms Organization' (IRRO).
'Innovative Radical Reforms Organization (IRRO) is an NGO registered
under the Societies Act 1860 and we work towards improving
governance through reforms in basic institutions of governance and
their systems in a holistic manner. We visualise India as a country
striding rapidly towards becoming a part of the first world.
Rapid rise of the Indian economy in the last decade as compared
to growth in the earlier decades has created a new hope amongst
our fellow citizens. If the momentum of growth achieved in the last
four years between 2004-2008 can be sustained, Indian economy can
reach the first world standards in next thirty to forty years.

The Goldman Sachs report and similar international reports predicted
India's economy to rise to over US$ 30 trillion by 2050 from the current
US$ 1.2 trillion. If the projected estimates of the size of Indian
economy is actually realized then the nation will rise from the
third world economic standards to first world economic standards.
But, this is not going to happen automatically. This kind of phenomenal
rise calls for radical reforms in basic institutions of governance
namely the political system, the bureaucratic system and the
judicial system.

Besides governance reforms, India's business institutions now urgently
need the next generation of reforms (particularly in the present
context of economic meltdown), to unleash India's business potential
and to create wealth for the nation. The reforms must become more
people oriented and should ensure that the largest number of Indian
citizens join the mainstream of economic growth. The wealth should
be widely distributed to minimize the ill-effects of 'Eiffel Tower
model of Capitalism' being pursued currently.

'Innovative
Radical Reforms Organization' as an organization believes that these
reforms are in the realm of a possibility. But they will not come
automatically. Rather a focused, sustained and committed effort
would be required to analyze and design appropriate systems of governance.
'IRRO’ is committed to building such systems and would recommend
concrete measures of innovative and radical reforms in these institutions,
so that India can realise its true potential and a billion plus
Indians can enjoy the standard of living enjoyed by their counterparts
in the first world.
We are aware of challenges ahead. But these are not insurmountable.
In this stupendous task, IRRO would make an all out attempt to involve
as many people as possible in order to push our agenda for reforms
and realise the true potential of India and all Indians.
We look forward to your active participation and support in all
our future activities and programs.
With best wishes for a more prosperous & peaceful year.
Sincerely,
President, IRRO
